id Founder Wants to Make a Kinect XBLA Game

id Software founder and Technical Director John Carmack told Joystiq that id doesn’t have a game that’ll work with Kinect — but he would like to develop an Xbox Live Arcade game to work with the motion controller.

“I have an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox Live,” Carmack said during an interview with Joystiq. He went on to say that he doesn’t have any idea what game he’d make, but he thinks the technology is perfect for a small-scale XBLA game.

Could be interesting, considering id just released an iOS game based on its upcoming RAGE first-person shooter. The iPhone’s RAGE: Mutant Bash TV is a rail shooter that contains three levels and goes for $0.99 in the iTunes App Store.

Something of that scale from id could be very cool for Kinect owners, since lots of people apparently bought it and Kinectimals can only keep you busy for so long. Seeing id dumping a little bit of time into iOS has been cool for us iPhone owners, but RAGE is probably going to keep Carmack busy for a while, so don’t expect anything Kinect-able yet.

Interesting that John would like to work a title for that thing, weird. Well if John wants to make a game for it I think they should let him do it. I mean he is the one who made my favorite games and compare them to any title out today. He is a genius he might make something really cool for it to boost sales, who knows we will see what game he decides to make for it.
