If Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Does Well, We Might Get Part 3
Good news, fans of old school RPGs. The recently announced Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is just the tip of the iceberg, if, that is, Beamdog has its way. Beamdog’s Cameron Tofer said as much in an interview with Kotaku, and it sounds like he has some pretty amazing things planned or, at least, conceptualized.
Talking about his wish for a return to classic RPGs, Tofer said “Imagine an alternate universe where instead of going to Oblivion and all that, we kinda just followed Baldur’s Gate.” This was part of a discussion about making old style, top-down, party based games of yore. but did he also mean Baldur’s Gate 3? Possibly. They intend to move on to “the next logical step, whatever that may be”, should the enhanced editions of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2 sell well.
So get out there and buy them when they’re out, people. Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is out this summer for PC. It will cost you 10 bucks, a steal for one of the great games of all tim.
