Indie Adventure To The Moon Looks Kinda Like Chrono Trigger (TRAILER)
I like the idea of games that are a little bit more adult in their conception, a little less “save the world, shoot all things, huge muscly guys and femme fatales.” I mean, those things are cool, but the stakes do not have to be the end of the world in every. Single. Game.
That’s why To The Moon looks kind of refreshing. It also looks kind of like My Favorite Game of All Time, Chrono Trigger. That’s endearing it to me already. The fact that the subject matter looks provocative and interesting is a bonus.
Having perused the official website, I’ve gleaned some insights into the story which are even more intriguing. The game is about two scientists with the ability to rework a person’s memories so they can literally rerun their lives with different outcomes, to fulfill a single wish, all within their heads. But the memory rerun procedure basically kills the subject shortly after its completion, so it’s reserved for deathbed patients who want to have a wish fulfilled before they die.
Johnny is just such a patient, and apparently he isn’t like most other people. The scientists have to actually enter his memories to rewrite them, and in doing so, they experience his life in reverse, as they go back through his mind from when he is a dying old man to a child. All of that information fills out the reasoning behind Johnny’s wish: To go to the moon.
Dunno about you, but I’m hooked.
