Indie Game: The Movie Will Be On Steam June 12
If you haven’t been able to watch indie Game: The Movie, you’ve missed out on an extremely interesting look at a growing faction of the gaming industry and the often idiosyncratic and frustrated individuals building it. (See our review here.) Luckily, you won’t have to miss out for much longer, because Indie Game, the movie, will be available to download on Steam beginning June 12.
Indie Game: The Movie has, as Ben Richardson pointed out, the precisely wrong title. It sounds like a parody film. But it’s actually a touching an oft uncomfortable window into the minds of people who spend long hours in isolation, struggle with financing, go a bit crazy, all in order to make something that may never actually make them any money anyway. (The profile of Fez creator Phil Fish is particularly interesting.) Making it available on Steam is exactly the right way to distribute it, and simply put, if you’re a gamer who cares, really cares about games, this should be essential viewing the second it’s available.
