Infamous 2 to Sport User-Created Missions

Infamous 2 has made headlines for a lot of things already: a morality system that employs women as influences, plenty of destruction, and letting us play it. Now, they’re making headlines again, this time for letting you make your own missions in the upcoming sandbox title.

Yeah, that’s right. Infamous 2 will ship with an editor that allows you to create your own missions, play them, and even upload them to the network for everyone else to play. Says Chris Zimmerman of Sucker Punch,

We thought inFAMOUS 2 would be better if it didn’t end—if you never ran out of missions and mini-missions to play and things to do. So… we spent the last two years adding a User-Generated Content feature to the game. With User-Generated Content, inFAMOUS 2 players can build new missions, then share them with the world. I think you’ll all quickly discover that while building missions is a lot of fun, seeing people play and enjoy those missions is even better!

It sounds like the creator will allow you flex your brain in the types of missions you create, as Zimmerman mentions pure stealth missions, platforming, races, skeet shooting and more. The coolest part? User-generated missions show up in the world just like regular missions, including their current user ratings.

Just like that, Infamous 2 just moved even further up my list of games I want. If you want to see User Generated Content in action, Sucker Punch also announced a limited public beta of the feature for early April. Information in signing up will be released March 14 on the Infamous 2 official site.

Until then, here’s a little trailer from GDC to tide you over.
