Infamous Dev Says PS4 Will Add Preloading in April

Preloading may be coming to PS4 in April 2014.

The feature, which allows gamers to purchase and download digital games prior to release so they’ll be ready to play at launch, currently isn’t available on the console. That said, if a Tweet from Infamous: Second Son developer Sucker Punch is correct, the PS4 may be adding the feature next month.

“No preload on PS4 until April and for North America,” said the studio’s Twitter, responding to a fan query. In a follow-up Tweet it further indicated that the update would be coming to North America, but not Europe.

If preloading is, in fact, coming in April, it’s possible that it could be another part of a recently announced update aimed at improving the PS4’s share functionality. We have reached out to Sony for confirmation, and will let you know when we learn more.

Until the developers stop charging full-price for digital only content I doubt most people will be using this feature.
