Insomniac’s Next New Game Is Called Fuse

Insomniac will have my loyalty forever, just because the original Ratchet and Clank Trilogy, the Future trilogy, and the Resistance series are all so great. But they do have a dangerous tendency to iterate the hell out of their IP. Especially when it comes to the Ratchet & Clank series, there are almost as many half-baked sequels as there are brilliant games. (The jury is still out on the upcoming Full Frontal Assault, which is admittedly a funny name). They need new IP Stat!

And they’re getting some. During Insomniac CEO Ted Price’s PAX Keynote speech, he confirmed that the company is developing a wholly new IP called ‘Fuse’. The reveal was accompanied by a website with a countdown timer that expires roughly one week from now. No other details were provided. Develop-Online, among others, has suggested that the game will end up being a reworked Overstrike. Overstrike was announced by Insomniac a couple of years back but hasn’t been mentioned since 2011.
