Interplay has officially announced plans to bring several Sega Genesis titles to the Wii including Earthworm Jim and Clayfighter. The full list of titles slated for release to the Wii later this year includes Earthworm Jim 2 and Boogerman. Interplay hopes to cash in these releases and other potential sequels to games such as Battlechess, Dark Alliance, Descent, Giants, Messiah, Run Like Hell, and Sacrifice to generate funds for fresh new IPs.
True to the zany cartoon, the Earthworm Jim games are a strange mix of aliens, high-tech super heroes and puns that are aimed at adults as much as children. After all the hero is an earthworm mutated by Ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit. Who can forget arch-nemeses such and Professor Monkey-For-A-Head and Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt. Ok, the name may be hard to remember but the image sure isn’t. I can imagine this wacky series will fit in well on the Wii.
