Interview with Rogue Dao Studios: Planescape Trilogy
Spanish site DLAN has an interview with Rogue Dao Studios’ developers on their upcoming Planescape Trilogy mod for Neverwinter Nights 2. Monty, Hippo and Ryan answer questions on their latest effort to recreate this unique Dungeons & Dragons setting. Before anyone gets excited, no this is not a recreation or follow up to the popular Planescape: Torment game.
Rogue Dao chose the Planescape setting because of its cosmic scale and potential for unique story telling.
Hippo says, “Planescape is just such an absolute departure from the sword-and-sorcery mindset that it can’t be ignored. Sure, if you play in Faerun, you can be a drow ranger with scimitars and a pet panther. But if you play in Planescape, you can be the embodiment of doubt. Or a Wizard who’s lost his voice (literally – someone stole it). Or a Signer who believes this is all just some sort of table-top game in which he’s the main character. In Planescape, the possibilities are endless. Potential like that demands attention.”
The story will focus on a mortals fall into darkness, the incredible struggle to survive and escape, and consequences of witnessing the distorted world view of absolute evil
Rogue Dao has given the Neverwinter Nights Community the opportunity to participate in the series. Players can drop by the forums at www.roguedao.com and submit their D&D characters for the chance to become part of the Planescape Trilogy. As many PCs as possible will be included, taking on roles such as a major villain or player companions.
