Into the Future of Lord of the Rings Online with Steefel

Lord of the Rings Online Executive Producer Jeffrey Steefel took time to talk with MMORPG about the future of LotRO: Shadows of Angmar. After looking back at the evolution of LotRO over its first year, Steefel gives players a glimpse into plans for 2008.

Changes on the horizon include more solo content for all levels of play. There will also be greater emphasis on developing high end content now that the LotRO subscriber base has matured. One of the biggest overhauls is planned for Angmar itself. It should be less boar hunting and more battling the twisted forces of corruption and evil.

Players also will soon be able to wear cool looking outer wear over their useful but funny looking ragtag gear and finally gain access the LotRO Lorebook from inside the game. I’ve been looking forward to that since they announced the possibility several months back.

The Burglar and Guardian classes are in for retrofits and some rebalancing too.
