IO Releases Concept Art For Next-Gen Hitman
IO Interactive has released concept art from the next Hitman game.
The art was revealed in a post at the official Hitman website. The image in question depicts series protagonist Agent 47 standing on a street near a large building that’s gated off and surrounded by a stone wall. According to IO, the building in question is an in-game location set in Central and larger “on its own” than “any location in Hitman Absolution.” If this is true, it would be a fulfillment of promises made in an open letter to fans earlier this year.
Unfortunately, the posting wasn’t all good news. While the prime purpose was to show off the new art, the studio also used it to let Hitman fans know that the game won’t be making any appearances at E3 2014.
“We’ve seen a lot of people talking about what we might be bringing to E3 this year. We know the worst thing is to hope for something that doesn’t turn up; so we wanted to let you know that our next Hitman is going to be under wraps for a bit longer,” said the company in a statement. “We’re focusing all of our time and efforts into creating the best possible Hitman game. That’s our number one priority and we don’t want to divert valuable resources to show something before it’s ready.”
While the game not being at E3 is bound to disappoint some gamers, it’s the studio’s hope that details it will be sharing later this year will be enough to ease the pain. Of course, if the game winds up being as good proposed plans would suggest, fans will probably be willing to forgive a lot more than a mere E3 absence.
