Sometimes Ratchet and Clank will fall out of the sky and have to dodge objects on their way to the ground. Yesterday in EA’s GamesCom presser we saw Isaac Clarke do something similar in some Dead Space 2 gameplay, and now that sequence has been trailer-ized for your enjoyment.

Actually, it looks to me all MDK-ish. Man i loved that game. The first one that is, they really screwed up the second game, specifically what GENRE it’s supposed to be (nightmarish shooter rather than comedy puzzle-game).

Visceral Games/EA Redwood wishes it were Shiny Entertainment. Dead Space is nothing like either of the MDK games. The MDK games (and Shiny games for tha matter) were all about taking a completely off the wall concept and executing it like no other. Shiny was waaay ahead of its time in that regard.

Dead Space is all about music cues, visuals, and ambience. There’s nothing original there that hasn’t already been done. It’s basically the Alien movie retooled in an alternative universe except as a video game.

Don’t get me wrong, The first Dead Space game was a pretty good execution at giving us a Hollywood blockbuster movie feel. It’s real weakness was when the scares wore off and it became predictable.

I don’t expect the second one to break the mold, but it looks like there’s going to be alot more action this time around. Whether that’s more button mashing via quickaction sequences or what, you’re guess is as good as mine. Guess we’ll see if it lives up to the hype come next year.
