It Seems The Last of Us is Delayed to June
Release dates are being updated across a number of retailers’ websites, suggesting that Naughty Dog’s cross-countey survival-horror stealth title The Last of Us is getting pushed back by about a month.
The story first came to light as pre-order customers at Best Buy received emails notifying them of the delay from May 7 to June 18, the game’s new apparent release date. VGREvolution reported that Best Buy was sending out the emails, and since then, it appears that a number of websites now list the game’s release date as June 18.
It’s not a universal change, however. While Best Buy, Walmart and Target all list The Last of Us with a June release date, Amazon and GameStop still list the old May 7 date (it appears GameStop’s date briefly changed to June 18 before being reverted to May 7). However, it seems a little fishy that three major retailers would just arbitrarily pick the same date to claim was the new release date; then again, they could be looking to each other, and not Sony or Naughty Dog, for information.
We’ve reached out to both Sony and Naughty Dog to confirm or deny the delay, and will update when we receive any official word.
