Jagex Beats Down Those RuneScape Bot Makers (In Court!)
Jagex, the company behind RuneScape, today announced that they were victorious in their lawsuit against Impulse Software (not the digital distributor), who had developed bots that would farm gold and stuff in RuneScape. Impulse is now no longer allowed to make bots or help anybody else make bots or even talk about the game with anybody. They can’t even enjoy RuneScape in their spare time. A shame.
But, I guess, this is an exciting victory for Jagex. No longer will they be plagued with bots in RuneScape. Wait, somebody else made bots, too? Oh, nevermind then. Well, at least there will be fewer bots now. Yay fewer bots. Good work, Jagex.
Here’s a quote from somebody involved in the suit:
We have spared no expense fighting this case, as demonstrated by the seven figure bill this action has cost, but the point of this and other cases of its kind, is that we will continue bring to justice those who set out to harm the game or our beloved community. We are delighted to say that we have convincingly neutered them after a very long battle.
Neutered? That’s strong wording. Can’t you just say “neutralized?” That sounds less… gross.
