If you’re not familiar with the Jagged Alliance games, don’t feel too bad; there hasn’t been any mention of the series in over a decade after all. But the people who do remember the games and fans of tactical action will be happy to hear the original 1994 title is making its way to the Nintendo DS. The game will blend some RPG elements with turn-based combat as you lead a ragtag team of mercenaries through a nonlinear series of missions. At this time, not much is known about the new DS version, except that it will release some time in 2009 and will essentially be the same as the first game:
“Jagged Alliance provides an exciting blend of RPG and turn based action, which has already won fans and accolades worldwide. The time is right to bring its frenetic battles to Nintendo DS and allow a brand new audience the experience the exhilarating game play.” commented, James Spice, VP of Marketing for Empire Interactive.
Really, I’m more than happy to see some older classics getting a fresh new start of the DS (much like the upcoming ChronoTrigger). Anything that lets me play some old favorites while on the go is alright in my book.
