James vs. Games 52 – Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

As Mitchell notes, today’s James vs. Games challenge is one that James is going to hate — it’s Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

James’ mission: Get a bronze medal on any of three levels of Mitch’s choosing in Time Attack mode. Apparently, that’s really hard, because DK Country’s levels aren’t particularly forgiving, and none of the time trial missions include checkpoints.

After going one-and-one for the last two James vs. Games challenges, failing here means James has to submit to punishment. For that occasion, Mitchell has secured some peppers so hot they don’t have names. Can James pull it out? Watch to find out.

It always amuses me when people say Nintendo is for children, when they make some of the most difficult games out there. Still accessible and still beatable, but difficult. I’d say they’re universal or family friendly more than child-focused.
