Killing Floor 2? Steam Stats Leak Indicates Sequel in the Works

Killing Floor 2 is in the works. That is if a strange Steam stats page glitch is accurate.

NeoGaf poster crimsonheadGCN was browsing the Steam stats in the wee hours, and there was ne’er a Dota 2 or Team Fortress 2 to be found in the top games by player count. In its place was an odd list of titles, many of which haven’t been announced or released yet and others with codenames like “Super Secret Project 1″ and “SD Secret Project Gamma.”

Among those games was Killing Floor 2, an HD version of Batman: Arkham Origins Black Gate, and PC versions of Battle Block Theater and Half Minute Hero 2 — a PSP exclusive currently only available in Japan. Here’s the screencap with the full list:

It appears the person handling Steam’s back end last night hit the wrong button and accidentally gave everyone a look at a  number of projects currently being tested on Steam. That or Valve is just messing with us, which it has been known to do. If that was the case, though, Half-Life 3 and/or Left 4 Dead 3 likely would have made the list.

I pinged Tripwire Interactive, the folks who made the original Killing Floor (and sold a million copies of the co-op survival shooter), for comment on the leak. I’ll update this post with any response.
