Killzone 3 Gets Custom Games with Patch; DLC Dated

The first phase of a patch to add custom game options to Killzone 3 hits the Playstation Network tomorrow, April 6 — the same day the first KZ3 map pack, Steel Rain, becomes available to download.

In Europe, that is.

To clarify: Europe gets Steel Rain and its two new maps tomorrow, the U.S. gets it on April 12. But everybody, regardless of oceanic orientation, gets the KZ3 patch 1.07 tomorrow, which includes numerous changes and fixes — most notably, the first half of the ability to set up custom unranked multiplayer matches.

According to patch notes at Killzone.com, the first phase of the custom game rollout (the second phase is coming in a patch at some unknown point in the future, and sounds pretty preliminary at this point) will include the ability to set game mode, map and Warzone mode’s missions and mission times, as well as a function for inviting squad members and enemy squad leaders.

The second phase isn’t definite yet, but Guerrilla Games has mentioned lots more settings — like kill count in Guerrilla mode, additional configurations for Warzone and Operations modes, configurable classes and weapons, and friendly fire.
