Kojima Hints His Next Game Could be MGS 5

mgs_peace_walker Thought Hideo Kojima’s magnum opus Metal Gear Solid series was finished with MGS4?

Us neither. Even though he said so.

In an interview on Japan gaming news web site andriasang.com quotes Kojima as saying the new game he’s working on is “either MGS5 or an original game. I only have these two choices.”

Kojima has been teasing gamers over his Twitter account with information about the new game he’s working on, which he said will be pushing back future installments of other games, such as Zone of the Enders and even though Kojima’s been saying ZOE 3 was next up on his docket.

Not much is known about the next Kojima Productions game. The man has given precious few details about it: he says it will be “taboo” and “a revolution” in terms of gameplay. He did reveal that it will be console-based, and not another handheld game like the last few MGS offerings. Kojima also said, “We’ll be doing things we couldn’t do with (Metal Gear Solid:) Peace Walker.”

He also remarked that taking much more than two years to develop the game would be a mistake. So we might be seeing a new console Metal Gear as early as 2012.

Or we might not. With Kojima, who knows. The man is as hard to decipher as some of the themes in his games.
