Kojima’s Fox Engine to Debute Aug. 30 in Japan

Kojima Productions has been working on a spiffy new engine for a while now. We got a very brief taste of it during Konami’s pre-E3 event back in 2011, but all we saw then was some pretty forest pictures and a dear and a guy.

But according to a big interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima on the Playstation Blog, the engine — still not finished — will finally get some spotlight come Aug. 30. That’s when Kojima says he intends to show us all “what it can do.”

Dubbed the Fox Engine (as you probably could have guessed), Kojima said the original intention was to use it to make Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. That didn’t happen, however, because the engine is taking so long to finish. Instead, Platinum Games supplied its own engine.

Now all they need is an engine that can write a coherant plot line and they will be in business.
