Konami Announces Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate for 3DS, Details, Trailer

Konami has released more details about the new 3DS Castlevania game to be released this Fall. The new entry in the Lords of Shadow universe will be a handheld adventure mixing the classic 2D side-scrolling of older Castlevania games such as Symphony of the Night and the full 3D action of the newer Lords of Shadow.

Mirror of Fate starts off 25 years after Lords of Shadow but before the upcoming Lords of Shadow 2. You’ll first assume the role of Trevor Belmont, a member of the Brotherhood of Light and Gabriel’s son, as he embarks on a quest to confront his exiled father, now known as Dracula. But Trevor won’t be the only character you’ll be playing as; apparently, there will be multiple character with different skill sets suited for different areas of the game. You’ll even visit different eras, assuming the roles of Belmont’s ancestors, among others.

If you enjoyed Lords of Shadow as much as I did and also crave some classic side-scrolling Castlevania action, then Mirror of Fate is one to watch out for.

Personally this is a crushing blow to my hopes.
I seem to be one of the few who thought Castlevania Lords of Shadow was amazing, and perhaps had the best ending in video game history.
Finding out this is coming to 3DS is a huge disappointment, I understand a platform game could be in the works as well and this could just be a additional part of the series but I won’t get my hopes up.
I have never been into handheld gaming, probably never will be, I have tried and they end up collecting dust.
I won’t buy a handheld just for this game, sorry.
The slight good news is based on this game and the ending of lords of shadow, the two have nothing to do with each other.

I would prefer the next Castlevania game on the 3DS to be as all the others from the last two Nintendo handhelds. That being the Symphony of the Night style castle crawling and item hunting.

After all, those games always sold heavily and I believe helped move a lot of Nintendo handheld systems.
