La-Mulana Greenlit on Steam, Gets April Release Date

Nigoro’s remake of La-Mulana has just been Greenlit on Steam and is set for an April 15 release. The site was approved through Greenlight’s fourth round of games and will see the addition of new language options including Russian and Spanish, Steam achievements, and cloud saving features.

The game is described as an “archaeological ruin exploration action game” in which you play the role of an Indiana Jones-like character named Professor Lameza who delves into the deepest of dungeons to uncover the secret origins of mankind, or so it goes.

La-Mulana shares many similarities to Cave Story—both titles are side-scrolling action adventures independently developed in Japan and later translated into English after gaining attention from the indie gaming community. Unlike Cave Story, La Mulana is a highly challenging game that derives much of its gameplay from the likes of the original Mega Man titles and requires quick reflexes.

The remake of La-Mulana was originally published in 2012 for the PC and WiiWare.
