Ladies And Gentlemen: Your First Look At Square Enix’s Untitled RPG

Still no real details have emerged about Square Enix’s supposedly giant, supposedly Unreal Engine-based RPG due for release some time next year. Aside from what we already know of course. But it’s definitely happening, and they’re got a recruitment page up to prove it.

The image above is taken from that very page. Alas, the site is in Japanese. But that only goes to show that sometimes, you can be right about something even when you’re just guessing. I guessed on Tuesday that the game would in all likelihood be a JRPG and based on that image – a swordsman with a fedora – I think I’m right. Seriously, a dove, a sword, a hat. And a castle in the distance. It’s everything you need to make sure the audience knows it’s about to get a JRPG. Interestingly, the color scheme and layout remind me strongly of the art for Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. Make of that what you will.
