Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC Announced for Mass Effect 2

Taking a page from the recent Liliana’a Song DLC for Dragon Age, Bioware revealed that the next big downloadable content for it’s space epic Mass Effect 2 would be a character history lesson. Set after the return of Commander Sheppard, Lair of the Shadow Broker will follow companion (and sometime love interest) Liara T’Soni in her quest to hunt down the elusive underworld figure.

Players will team up with Liara (an option that was sorely missing in Mass Effect 2′s main story) for a side-trek adventure to finally find the person behind the spying and information network. Fans already know that Liara’s been on the hunt and much of her journey, along with her quest to find the Commander, were detailed in a tie-in comic book that is now out in trade-paperback. Though there is little real information, it’s apparent that this is meant to continue or possibly conclude the side-plot introduced during the main Mass Effect 2 story.

There was no release date given but if it follows past examples expect PC and Xbox 360 availability within the next two months.

I predict a continuation, not a conclusion. Bioware promises that the DLC will bridge the gap between ME2 and ME3. Also, it’s already been established that the shadow broker was willingly working with the Reapers. I can’t imagine they’d decide to get rid of such an interesting villain in DLC.
