Red vs. Blue, the popular machinima made from the Halo engine, is airing its last episode tonight. The serial storyline, which began on April 1, 2003, will be wrapped up in the series’ 100th and final episode. Rooster Teeth, the seven-man team that created and produces the series, will continue to occasionally produce one-off specials.
The final episode will be 15 minutes instead of the usual 5-minute episodes that have been made for five seasons over four years. RvB writer/editor/director/actor Michael Burns says when the game started they ”didn’t even know what machinima was…. We played a ton of Halo at LAN parties because Xbox Live didn’t exist yet. The humor of us yelling across the room led to Red vs. Blue..” It has since shown that Machinima could be a powerful force in entertainment, winning four awards from the Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences.
Burns goes on to say tonight’s episode will “honor [Machinima's] unique distribution method — we have the ability to do some things on the internet that you can’t do in television or film.”
RvB, you already have.

Not true that it’s the last episode of RvB forever. The hints they’ve left is that it’s the last episode of the Blood Gulch Chronicles (supported by the ending to the episode, which was ofcourse almightily fantastic) but not RvB itself. Besides, they said they would work with Halo 3 AND you can’t get rid of Caboose that easily.

Okay, so it may not be their last episode ever, but I’m a bit of an extremist/alarmist. Life’s more fun that way.
