Latest Trailer Gives a Few Hints About Dead Space 3′s Story

So far, we only know a little bit about the story of Dead Space 3, for the most part. We know it involves searching for (and apparently finding) Ellie, one of the primary characters from Dead Space 2. We know it involves John Carver, a new character that co-op players will control.

And we know it takes place on the icy planet Tau Volantis, where there seems to have been some serious research being done into the game universe’s monster-making Marker technology. We’ve seen giant necromorph creatures frozen solid in the backgrounds of the game’s demo, and we’ve seen soldiers loyal to the Church of Unitology doing their best to kill protagonist Isaac.

Now we have a trailer that teases out a little more of the story. It hints at religious fanaticism — something that’s been a mainstay of the series all along — plus some emotional moments between Ellie and Isaac, and of course, people getting mad about the horrific situation they’re in.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. If you’re still worried about Dead Space 3′s co-op, allow me to direct your attention to the fact that the game will have things like a Classic mode and a Permadeath mode.

I take it you guys haven’t seen the leaked ending? It pretty much gives away the major story beats of Dead Space 3. What happens between the start and the end, I don’t know, but I know the big themes.
I won’t spoil it of course. You’ll have to search the net, if it’s still there.

Very much avoiding that video.

No spoilers but I’ll say this: it was underwhelming. Can’t speak about the rest of the game but with all the controversy surrounding dead space 3, let’s just say it’s not the ending that’s going to change your opinion of the game.

Bummer. I just started my playthrough for the review and I’m optimistic. More on Tuesday.
