League of Legends Launches Second Platform in Europe Thanks to Rapid Community Growth

Riot Games, developer of League of Legends, announced over the weekend plans to launch a second platform for its free-to-play hit in Europe to support its exploding player base. European players will soon be divided into two regions: “EU Nordic & East” and “EU West.”

Marc Merrill, president of Riot Games, said:

League of Legends first came to Europe just over a year ago, and the growth of our community there has been astonishing. Our number one goal is to provide an exceptional player experience for League of Legends worldwide, and the addition of a second platform in Europe will enable even more players to enjoy just such an experience.

In our recent interview with veteran eSports caster Diggity, League of Legends’ rising popularity was made evident, and this announcement almost makes Diggity appear prophetic.
