Left 4 Dead 2 Getting New DLC

It’s been kind of quiet on the Left 4 Dead front for a while. Valve realizes this, and now they’re breaking that silence with an announcement of some new DLC.

Over on the L4D Blog, they’ve given a few details about the upcoming DLC. First off, the remaining three maps from Left 4 Dead 1 will be brought to the sequel. Secondly, and most exciting for mod-loving folks like ourselves, there will be a new campaign created by Matthew Lourdelet. If you don’t know that name, perhaps it will help if I tell you that he’s the creator of the 2 Evil Eyes campaign (which you can download here).

Lourdelet is now working on a brand new campaign titled “Cold Stream.” It’s not finished, but Valve is looking to the L4D community to help provide input on it. Here’s what they nned from you:

In the next few weeks we will add Cold Stream to the UI (user interface) and we will all begin testing it. As we receive feedback and test data we will also share some data we collect on player experience and show how we put that data to use. We will include you with regular posts, polls, and updates.

This is an interesting experiment, and it will be intriguing to see how it shakes out. Just how good will a campaign collaborated on by the entire community be? You can keep on eye on the new Cold Stream Forum to watch the process in action.

“It’s been kind of quiet on the Left 4 Dead front for a while.” It’s been four months since The Sacrifice. Meanwhile, it’s been almost THREE AND A HALF YEARS since Half-Life 2 Episode 2! Priorities, Valve!
