The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Helm’s Deep

The battle hasn’t started yet, but you’ll begin in control of Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.

Use Gimli to smash the cracked floor just right of where you start, and pick up the gold Lever that falls out, you’ll need it for later.

Next, use Legolas to shoot the target on the wall, a little to the left of the screen. Some Lego bricks will fall to the ground and begin hopping. Construct them to form a set of gears in sequence. To operate the gears, you’ll need that lever.

Change back to Gimli and insert the level into the machine. Mash the button on screen until the yellow meter is full, and more hopping bricks will fall to the ground.

Building the hopping bricks will construct a wooden set of steps. Use them to jump up to the high ledge, then climb the crates and boxes up and left to find another cracked Lego floor. You know the drill, smash the cracked Lego floor with Gimli’s jump-attack.

Now, you just need to jump to the top of the wall. The battle will then commence.

Here’s the tricky part! Orcs will start jumping onto the wall using ladders. To stop the onslaught, use Legolas to shoot the Orc standing at the top of the ladder. It’ll take more than one hit from Legolas’ arrows.

There are three ladders to knock down. The center ladder requires Legolas to shoot down the top Orc. To knock the right-most ladder down, smash the two Lego hooks. To knock down the left-most ladder, use Gimli’s jump-attack on the cracked ground.

Four more ladders will drop down! Remember what you’ll need to do for each type – attack the hooks on the ladders with two hooks. Use Legolas to shoot the leader Orc off the top of the tall ladders to destroy those. The last type of ladder has a cracked Lego floor, which Gimli can smash with a jump-attack.

To destroy the fourth ladder on the far right, use Gimli to crawl through a tiny door. You’ll appear on an upper ledge. Push the box off the surface to smash the Lego object, producing hopping bricks.

Build the bricks to create a cracked Lego block against the tall ladder. Just use Gimli to finally finish this ladder off.

Five more ladders will appear! Use the same tactics described above to smash four regular ladders. The central ladder will require a new tactic.

The center ladder has a cracked Lego brick, but it’s out of Gimli’s reach. Switch to Legolas or Aragorn and pick up Gimli. Target the cracked Lego brick and throw Gimli to smash the ladder.

With the ladders all destroyed, the Orcs will succeed with a massive explosion. The allied armies are retreating to the keep, and you’ll appear on the ground near the wall’s ruins.

Defeat the Orcs in the area, then use Gimli to crush the cracked Lego brick on the left wall. Construct the hopping bricks to create a step, so the three heroes can jump up to the next platform above.

Up on the first large step out of three, crush the weapons rack and construct the parts to build an arrow-slot. Use Legolas to place an arrow in the slot.

Jump up to the arrow in the arrow-slot, then jump to the next large step. Push the Lego rock off the push-surface, creating another new path for the heroes.

Jump all the way up to the wall, then crush all the Lego boulders on the left with Gimli’s attack. Make sure to target the crack.

Run left, and up the stairs to enter the keep. You’ll get another cutscene, until you’re back in control. You’ll have Aragorn with Gimli, with an army of Orcs on the pathway to your left.

To reach all those Orcs, pick up Gimli with Aragorn, then target the cracked Lego shield of the Orc to the left.

Defeat all the Orcs on the pathway, and smash their battering ram. With the ram destroyed, you’ll find hopping bricks on the ground. Build all the blocks to fix the door.

Next, you’ll switch to Legolas up on the keep’s walls. Orcs will arrive on another ladder, which you’ll need to destroy with Legolas by himself.

Fight through the incoming Orcs, and shoot the leader Orc on the tall ladder to your left. Of course, it can’t be that easy. Another ladder will arrive, then another. Destroy both of these, and a final very large ladder will arrive.

The last ladder will attach to the wall by two massive hooks. Smash both hooks with several attacks each to drop the ladder, which will leave behind plenty of hopping bricks.

Build the hopping bricks to fix the push-surface. If you look at the surface, there’s a box on the track. Push the box left, then down to drop it on the pathway below.

When the box lands, it cracks open. That’s right, there are more hopping bricks! Switch back to Aragorn and Gimli, and build these new bricks.

The bricks will construct a new platform, allowing Gimli and Aragorn to reach the dangling rope. Climb the rope up to reach a new cutscene.

Once the scene ends, you’ll be in control of Aragorn or the King as they ride out to face the Orc hordes! As you ride, keep swinging your sword to defeat Orcs, and steer clear of the trolls!

At the end of the riding sequence, reinforcements arrive and save the day! That completes another level.

Back in the Middle-Earth overworld, you’ll see Sauron’s gaze move. Now, you can finally switch back to Frodo, Sam, or Gollum and enter the city.

Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

Use Gollum to do the fishing!

In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

what is used to break shining objects through out the game

There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
