The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Osgilliath

This is it, the final level of The Two Towers. You’ll start in a small ruin with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum. There’s nothing they can do here, not yet at least.

Instead, switch to Faramir by holding down the character-switch button and choosing him on the character wheel.

Faramir is elsewhere in the city. He’s across the water. Look to the background through the hole in the dark area. You can see the target far in the background. Aim and shoot an arrow at the target to destroy it.

The arrow will drop a Lego platform for Frodo and friends to use. Switch to Frodo, Sam, or Gollum and enter the tiny door on the left. You’ll appear on an upper platform. Now use the new platform to jump left.

In the next arrow, drop down from the second story of ruins to the ground floor. Use Sam’s rope to pull on the gold hook, breaking rocks blocking your way to a closed door. If you look up, you’ll see another new target appear.

That means you’ll need to switch to Faramir! To find an opening to shoot this new target, run right to find a large pushable surface with three different Lego pillars. First, construct all three groupings of hopping bricks to complete the push-surface.

With the push surface complete, push the tallest of the columns against the back right corner. The middle column should be pushed against the tallest, then the smallest against the middle.

Use the three levels of pillars to jump up to find a large hole in the wall. Standing on the tallest pillar, you’ll be able to shoot the target with Faramir.

Shooting the first target will open the door, and make a second target appear to the right. Keep Faramir where he is, then switch to Frodo and run into the dark room between both doors. Wait inside, then switch back to Faramir, shoot the target on the right, and you’ll be able to continue into the city with the Hobbits.

With the door open, switch to Gollum and climb the Lego wall further right. But, he can’t yet! He’s still in cuffs.

To cut Gollum free, you’ll need to find something sharp. Under the floor, you’ll find a very dark place deep in the wall that’s hard to spot. Run into it with Frodo to reveal another gated door that’s sealed shut.

Smash the door with an attack, then construct the hopping bricks. The parts will build a tiny door, which leads up a level.

Enter the doorway just left of the second level mini-door. Before you do, a boulder will smash the tower and reveal a golden hook. Use Sam’s rope to pull those brown Lego bricks down.

Construct the hopping bricks to form a bounce pad. Jump up to the platform above, then use Faramir to shoot the target even further above.

But, Faramir can’t reach the target from his pillar. Orcs will appear and smash the rocks to your right. Defeat the Orcs, and build the hopping bricks to complete the ladder. Climb up, and then Faramir will be able to shoot the target.

The target will break, leaving hopping bricks that construct into a ladder. Up the ladder, you can pick up a sword! Now, use the sword on Gollum to free him of his restraints.

With Gollum free, climb the Lego wall and turn the crank in the background to open the path for the Hobbits. Further right, down the stairs, you’ll find another Lego wall protected by Orcs.

You’ll need to defeat the Orcs with Faramir before Gollum can climb the wall. Jump down right, and run into the rocks. They’ll blow up, and reveal more Orcs.

Beat down the Orcs, and run upstairs. Shoot both targets, build the bricks, and push the Lego pillar left to reveal a window. Now, Faramir can shoot both Orcs through the window opening.

Climb the Lego wall once the Orcs are defeated, then push the Lego object off the ledge. Switch to Sam and plant into the Lego soil to create plants, allowing the two Hobbits to join Gollum.

Jump up with Sam, then interact with the brown Lego base to burn down the wooden Lego object in your path. But, you won’t be able to run far. Run ahead and a Black Rider will appear!

Before the Hobbits can move forward, you’ll need to get rid of the Rider. Switch to Faramir, and defeat the Orcs that exit through the door. Run through the open door, and smash the brown Lego bricks to create a new opening, allowing Faramir to shoot the Rider.

To reach the rider, you’ll need to jump onto the fallen pillar. Shoot the Rider, and switch back to the Hobbits to keep moving right.

Down the steps ahead, use Sam to dig up the Lego soil, then build the blocks that appear. You’ll build a machine that requires a crank to use.

To get the crank, switch to Gollum and smash the Lego objects on the nearby jetty. Gollum can fish without using a fishing pole. Do so, and you’ll find the crank! Insert the crank into the machine, and turn it to open the door.

Through both doors, you’ll be stopped by a Rider again! That means it is time to switch to Faramir. Jump down to the first level of ruins, and run right until the ruins’ wall burst open. Orcs will pop out to attack.

Use this new hole in the wall to shoot the Rider, and send the flying monster away. As it flies away, it’ll crash into the ruins and leave behind hopping bricks to Faramir’s right. Build them into a ladder, but there’s nothing for Faramir to do yet.

Switch back to the Hobbits, and explore further ahead. Destroy the three Lego pillars to create a pile of hopping bricks. Construct these bricks to fix the stairs leading up. Up the steps, the Rider will show up yet again!

Now it’s time for Faramir to shine! Switch back to him, climb the constructed ladder, and shoot the rider through the opening on the right.

Of course, that doesn’t end things. After a scene, you’ll be transported outside Saruman’s tower. Now both Merry and Pippin will have their own Ent to control. These giant tree-men can smash any Orcs in their way.

Stomp right, and search the ledge – you might need to travel toward the foreground, for a glowing Lego tower. This tower, when attacked, will drop down to form a bridge across the chasm. Move right to reach the next section of the Orc’s base. Keep moving right until you reach a large wooden wall.

Once you near the wall, an Orc will set it on fire! To destroy the wall, you’ll need to put out the fire first. Nearby, you can spot a glowing Lego water-tower. Pick it up and throw it at the fire to put it all out.

Once out, a section of the wall will collapse, allowing you through. Stomp far toward the background, where you can see three glowing boulders and more glowing towers. That’s your next objective.

Pick up a boulder, and knock down the lower tower to create a bridge. Then pick up another boulder, walk up the first bridge, and knock down the second higher tower to create a second bridge.

Up the second bridge, you’ll be able to destroy the dam supports. Press the interaction button and mash it for each support to rip them off. The tower will flood, defeating Saruman’s army.

Not only is Saruman defeated, but the second part of the trilogy is complete! Now, it’s time to move on to the big finale.

    Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

    I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

    Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

    Use Gollum to do the fishing!

    In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

    @Nicole,

    If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

    Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

    Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

    Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

    @Kerry,

    Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

    what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On February 19, 2013 at 3:00 am

    @jim,

    There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

    I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

    @Jennifer,

    Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

    I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

    Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
    We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

    I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
