The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

The Secret Stairs

To begin the level, you’ll need to climb the Lego wall up to the top with Gollum.

Once the level starts, you’ll have Frodo, Sam, and Gollum in your party. Run into the dark cave left of the path with Frodo to light up the darkness, revealing a patch of Lego soil.

Jump to Sam and dig up the soil. Construct the hopping bricks that come out to construct a spinner attached to the left statue. Push the spinner to spin the statue, and use Sam’s rope to pull on the newly revealed golden hook.

Build the hopping bricks that appear once the statue is pulled down to add wood to the right statue. Use Sam to light a fire by interacting with the glowing Lego base.

Finally, build the next stack of hopping bricks that come from the fallen statue to build part of the stairs leading out of the area. But, you’ll need more stairs to leave.

Run left into the foreground to find a Lego wall. Climb the wall with Gollum, and smash the glowing wooden Lego wood near the circle of Lego soil.

Once the wood is smashed, a platform will drop down allowing Sam to reach the upper ledge and dig up the Lego soil.

Digging up the soil with Sam will reveal a rock. Pick up the rock, and throw it at the Lego rocks above the cracked Lego rock wall just to the right.

If you hit the rocks, they’ll drop down and reveal a golden hook on the Lego tree. Use Sam’s rope to pull on the hook, dropping the tree down and creating another new platform.

Switch to Frodo, and jump up to the platform with the Lego wall. Use the fallen tree to jump right to the next upper ledge with a push-surface.

Enter the darkness and smash the Lego object inside to find more hopping bricks. Build the bricks to finish the push-surface, then push the Lego boulder off the side.

Once the boulder is dropped down, build the hopping bricks to finally construct the bottom half of the steps.

With both sets of steps constructed, studs will appear and show you the way up. You’ll have to jump between the gap of the steps to reach the secret path.

Run up to reach a new cutscene and continue the level.

In the next area, you’ll be in control of your characters while the camera looks down at them. Jump right onto the rocks, then jump right again to catch onto the plant handhold. Shimmy right to find more stairs leading up.

Up the steps, run into the dark area with Frodo to reveal the bottom half of a Lego wall. Climb the wall with Gollum, and push the Lego boulder down off the ledge.

The boulder will land on another push-surface below, but it’s unfinished. Smash the Lego objects scattered nearby to uncover Lego soil. Dig up the Lego soil to find all the hopping bricks you’ll need to finish the green and white Lego floor.

Once the surface is completed, push the boulder right until it settles into place. You won’t be able to push it anymore, but you will be able to use it as a stepping stone to reach the stairs above.

There’s more darkness at the top of the stairs. Enter the dark cave with Frodo, and smash the Lego plant to find a rock. Then, look left of the steps for a Lego spider-web attached to more Lego rocks. Throw the rock at the spider-web to reveal a golden hook.

Gold hooks are for Sam to pull with his Elven Rope. Switch to Sam and use the rope on the hook. You might have to get very close to the ledge to interact.

When Sam is able to use his rope, the rock wall be be destroyed, allowing all three characters to climb the handholds and reach the next set of stairs.

Up the steps, you’ll see another Lego wall. Attack the wall once to clear off the spider-webs, then climb up with Gollum. At the top, smash the white and grey Lego objects to find hopping bricks.

The bricks can be built into a fulcrum, or seesaw. Jump onto the raised part of the seesaw with a blue Lego stud to knock down the large Lego boulder.

Dropping the Lego boulder will clear away the wall of Lego rocks below. Pushing forward, switch to Sam and crawl through the tiny door. You’ll appear in an open cave, with a place to plant seeds.

Use Sam’s seeds to make a Lego plant grow. The plant will make more hopping bricks appear just below the stairs up. Build those bricks, and you’ll have yourself another stepping stone. Use the new steps to jump up and continue upward.

A cutscene will commence, splitting Sam from the group. When you’re back in control, it’ll just be Frodo and Gollum.

Enter the creep cave filled with spiders. Through the fist passage, you’ll reach a save point and a large room. Run through the large room to find two paths – one leads left, and the other forward. Ignore the left path and continue deeper into the cave.

Through this passage, more Lego debris will drop in your path as the shadow of a giant spider looms ahead. Smash the debris with a single attack, and run ahead into the next room.

Against the back right wall, you’ll find a Lego wall. Use Gollum to climb up and left. Once you’re up top, push the Lego boulder off the ledge of the push-surface to reveal a tiny door.

Switch back to Frodo and use the new tiny door to rejoin Gollum. Continue forward, there are more spiders ahead, and giant spider-webs. Smash through the giant webs, and continue moving forward until you reach a dead-end.

You’ll stumble into a path with a ledge too high to reach. Smash the Lego skeleton bones, all three sections, to reveal Lego hopping bricks. Construct those bricks to form handholds, and use the holds to get up to the upper area.

Up above, you’ll find more Lego webs on the leftside. To get rid of them, crush the Lego object in the left corner and construct the bricks.

The bricks will form a hanging weight. Now, crush the rocks on the right to find smaller rocks you can pick up. Pick one up, and throw a rock at the weight.

You’ll need to throw three into the basket to destroy the Lego web. Now, you can run forward… right into a trap.

That’s right, the giant spider Shelob attacks! You’ll enter another chase sequence! Here, you’ll just need to try and avoid running into Lego objects to slow you down. Stay near the center of the path, and you should be fine.

Once the chase is over, the level will end. You’re one step closer to Mt. Doom.

Shelob’s Lair

Appearing in a rocky canyon, your path is forward. Follow the ghostly studs into a small arena ahead to begin the next level.

    Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

    I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

    Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

    Use Gollum to do the fishing!

    In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

    @Nicole,

    If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

    Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

    Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

    Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

    @Kerry,

    Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

    what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On February 19, 2013 at 3:00 am

    @jim,

    There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

    I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

    @Jennifer,

    Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

    I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

    Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
    We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

    I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
