The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Cirith Ungol

This level starts with a bang! Shelob appears in the small arena, and captures Frodo! But, Sam won’t be fighting alone, you’ll have the Orc Shagrat to help.

Shelob fights by attacking anything that gets close with a deady, and speedy, bite. To avoid that, keep moving and keep your distance.

While far away, Shelob will attack the ground, sending a green light at you that hones in. Jump over this attack to avoid it.

You can’t hurt Shelob as you are, you’ll need Frodo’s dropped lamp. You’ll find the lamp right under where Shelob keeps Frodo, against the background wall.

Lead Shelob away from the large spider-webs, then collect the sword Sting and the lamp. Shelob won’t attack you if you’ve got the lamp in hand.

Walk toward Shelob and it’ll back away into a corner until a circle of light appear on the ground near it. Interact while standing in the light to attack – mash the attack button, until you’re able to stab the monster spider.

Once damaged, Shelob will retreat and spit gobs of web at you! Run around to avoid them, and attack and spiders that attack during this phase.

To knock Shelob down, run underneath it and target it with a throw – you’ll throw the lamp, knocking Shelob down!

The lamp will reappear in its original position, so don’t forget to collect it again.

Now, just follow the same pattern; scare Shelob into the corner with the lamp, attack with the shining sword, mash the attack button, then throw the lamp at Shelob when it hides above the arena.

Follow the pattern three times to make Shelob run away. But, the Orcs will drag Frodo away.

After the cutscene, Sam and Frodo will be reunited inside the Orc’s tower. Start by using Sam’s rope on the golden hook just above the center of the room. Pulling it will drop down a Lego rock you can pick up.

Grab the glowing Lego rock, and throw it at the chandelier hanging from the chain in the center of the room. The chandelier will fill, and cause a riot below.

It also opens up a big hole for Sam and Frodo to jump down into the next room. Beat down the three Orcs inside, and take some time to look around.

Here, you’ll find a dark corner to your left. In the left back corner, there’s a door that still needs a gear to open.

Switch to Frodo and enter the darkness, where the gear is on the ground. Pick up the gear, and place it in the machinery left of the door.

Two chains will drop down. Jump and hang from both chains at the same time to open the door, leading to steps spiraling down.

Beat down every Orc in your way as you fight down the steps. At the bottom floor, defeat the remaining Orcs until the large double doors burst open. Defeat these new Orcs, too.

Leave through the open doors, where Sam and Frodo will fall from a wooden balcony. Look ahead to find a save point. This large fortress area is full of things Sam and Frodo can’t interact with.

Ignore everything, just run right until you find the exit door. Before you continue too far, run back left and look for a pipe spewing green sludge. On the ground, look for a rock on the ground. Pick up the rock, and throw it at the pipe above the Orc’s head.

The Orc will jump down and shower, throwing out his armor! Grab the armor, it’s your first piece of disguise.

The exit door is protected by two Orcs. To get by them, you’ll need a disguise. Look right of the door to find a green flag marked by a glowing Lego base.

Use Sam to set a fire, then jump onto the rope left of the fire. Hold onto the rope until all the Legos shatter, leaving behind hopping bricks. Build those bricks, to fix a catapult.

Stand near the catapult with Sam, and press the button on screen to launch Sam to a high platform. From this high platform, use Sam’s rope on the golden hook above.

Climb the rope up and jump onto the wall. Run right, and attack the axe against the stack of three barrels. Once the axe breaks, the three barrels will roll down the steps and knock out the Orc.

The defeated Orc will drop a mask. Run down the steps and jump down to collect the mask. Now you have the second disguise part out of four.

Construct the hopping brown bricks to create a ladder. Now, go back up the steps and run left along the wall to a small guardhouse.

At the guardhouse, you’ll need to sneak by the guard or he’ll raise a large gate to block your path left. Switch to Frodo, and equip the Elven Cloak to turn invisible.

Now that you’re invisible, walk past the guard. Climb up the ladder, and smash the Lego objects to find two items – a rock, and a stick. Combine both items on the roof to create a Rock-Hammer.

The Rock-Hammer gives you Gimli-powers, you can crush cracked Lego bricks. On the roof, there’s a cracked Lego floor. Use a jump-attack with the hammer equipped to smash through the roof.

Defeat the Orc after jumping down through the hole in the roof. Interact with the crank to open the door, and don’t forget to collect the helmet inside.

Now you only need one more disguise part. Switch to Sam, and set a fire on the wall of Lego bricks further left.

Keep running left, where you’ll find two brown Lego crates on two push-surfaces. Push both crates down to reveal two piles of hopping bricks. Jump down to construct both, completing the push-surface below the three window openings.

Push the pillar to the third window, and smash open the debris to find the last disguise part. Equip Sam and Frodo with a helmet and armor piece each, then interact with the two Orcs by the gate.

Once the gates are open, the level is complete.

Mordor

Sam and Frodo can’t reach Mount Doom while Sauron is looking. You’ll need to divert his attention, and there’s only one way to do it.

Switch to Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli or Gandalf and follow the path of ghostly studs. It should be a peaceful trip on horseback through the fields of Middle-Earth.

The first stop is Rohan, where you’ll find a cutscene. After the scene, switch back to Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli and continue following the path of ghostly studs to the camp up the narrow mountain path.

    Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

    I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

    Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

    Use Gollum to do the fishing!

    In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

    @Nicole,

    If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

    Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

    Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

    Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

    @Kerry,

    Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

    what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On February 19, 2013 at 3:00 am

    @jim,

    There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

    I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

    @Jennifer,

    Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

    I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

    Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
    We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

    I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
