The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Mount Doom

So starts the final trek. You’re almost there! You’ll have Sam and Frodo, but Frodo is too exhausted to even jump.

Run up and around the mountain path until you reach two Lego crates right before a short embankment. Frodo can’t get up, he can’t jump, but Sam can.

Not that it matters, destroy the two crates and construct the hopping bricks that fall out to create a ramp.

Ahead, you’ll find a huge lava flow. Frodo can’t cross it, but Sam can. Have Sam jump onto the Lego platform in the lava, and pull on the gold hook across to destroy the wall and create a path across the laval for Frodo.

Move left to find handholds. Jump onto them with Sam, and climb up to the high ledge. Frodo can’t follow.

Use Sam’s rope on the golden hook right of the bursting lava on this high landing. Climb up with the rope, and step onto the floating Lego platform to weigh it down and plug up the lava spitting out.

Make sure Frodo is standing on the rock below. The computer AI will automatically move Frodo onto the rock if you’re playing solo.

Underneath the hook is a dark cave. Walk in with Frodo to light it up. It’s a push surface! Push the Lego object inside right into the lava. That will block part of the flow, revealing a Lego soil patch.

Use Sam to dig up the soil, which you’ll find a rock inside. Pick up the rock and throw it at the boulder above, pointed out by the gold with a four-pronged marker.

Rocks will fall and open the rest of the way forward. Run past the bursts of flame from the mountain, then use Sam to cross the lava river by jumping onto the handholds and shimmying across.

Part of the way across, the mountain will burst, leaving moving rock platforms in the lava. Use these rocks to cross over the lava, right. Just be patient and Frodo will make it across.

Further left, you’ll find another insurmountable high ledge. Smash the wooden barricades covering the dark cave, then walk into the cave with Frodo. Make sure Sam stays close, they’ll both be able to cross through the cave to find a lava fall.

At the lava fall, the way across will break. Use Sam’s rope to pull down a bring, allowing the two to continue moving right. Ahead, there’s another lava-flow platforming puzzle.

Leave Frodo on the lower of the two platforms, and have Sam jump to the high platform below the bursting lava. Stand on it until Frodo can reach the upper area.

Switch to Frodo, and smash the Lego rocks so Frodo can jump onto the high platform and let Sam up. When Sam is up, leave Frodo behind and jump past the lava fall to the right.

Right of the fall is another path of Lego soil. Dig it up with Sam! Build the hopping bricks you dig up into a bridge, allowing Frodo to join up with Sam.

Run into the foreground and use Sam’s rope to pull down a Lego tower, blocking the fire. Run right to enter another complicated area.

Here, you’ll see another lava-flow puzzle, a gold hook, and a push surface. Before you do anything, destroy the Lego objects to build a Lego pillar on the push-surface.

Next, use Sam to pull on the gold hook to create a rope. Climb up and jump onto the platform suspended by flowing lava while Frodo is on the lower.

When Frodo is raised up, let him walk over to the Lego pillar. Switch to Sam, and push the Lego pillar right while Frodo is standing on it to enter the dark cave behind yet another lava flow.

Have Frodo run under and behind the lava flow, then attack the wobbly rock to block off the lava. With the lava blocked, a tiny door will be revealed. Travel through the door with Frodo and Sam, then jump down into the hot area below.

This is where Gollum attacks! Frodo is being attacked, and Sam can’t reach him because of the thick stream of lava! Look around for a glowing rock, and throw it at Gollum.

That will make Gollum retreat. Switch to Frodo, and pick up a rock. Look up and right to find Gollum, and throw the rock straight at him.

Gollum will pounce on Frodo again! Switch to Sam and throw another rock at the attacking Gollum to help Frodo.

This time, Gollum waits in the center above the lava flow. Throw another rock at him, then another after jumps to Sam’s side.

A cutscene ensues, until you’re taken inside the mountain and to the final battle. Beginning as Frodo mash the attack button to throw Gollum off your back.

Switch to Sam and fight Gollum! Mash attack when he jumps on Sam’s back, until Sam is thrown down onto a ruined pillar. Build the hopping bricks to build a low platform, allowing Sam to jump left and back up to the walkway above.

Use Frodo to mash attack, throwing Gollum off again, before fighting Gollum with Sam once again. Gollum will throw Sam down to another ruined ledge. Just build the bouncing bricks, and pull on the Gold Hook to open a path further right.

The struts will fall. Have Sam jump to the central platform and rebuild the hopping bricks. Jump up each of the three landings.

When Sam is safely out, change over to Frodo to mash attack and get Gollum off your back. Jump on Sam and attack Gollum once he’s off.

You’re almost at the end. Sam is thrown down once again. Climb up from the ledge, then switch to Frodo. Mash the attack button, then construct the ghostly hopping bricks. Now Sam can jump up and smack Gollum one more time.

But, it isn’t over yet! Mash the on-screen prompt button and run! It’s a short trip, but once you’re out of Mount Doom, Gandalf will return to rescue the two brave Hobbits.

That leads to the ending. Congratulations, you’ve completed Lego Lord of the Rings! Sit back, and enjoy the ending.

Now you’ve got an entire Middle-Earth to go explore.

    Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

    I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

    Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

    Use Gollum to do the fishing!

    In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

    @Nicole,

    If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

    Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

    Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

    Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

    @Kerry,

    Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

    what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On February 19, 2013 at 3:00 am

    @jim,

    There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

    I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

    @Jennifer,

    Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

    I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

    Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
    We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

    I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
