The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Weathertop

At Middle-Earth’s version of a rest-stop, the hobbits are hungry for second breakfast. You’ll need to collect some items to start a fire, as your first step.

The first bundle of wood is found in the foreground. Smash the Lego rocks to find some Lego wood. Deposit the wood below the orange circle.

The second bundle is in the background, smash the Lego green and brown plants. That leaves only one bundle of wood left to find.

Climb the short steps, found against the left rock wall, and smash the Lego rock at the end. You’ll find hopping bricks, construct them all to fill in the slick patterned bricks below.

Moving on, you can find a food ingredient in the foreground, just left of where you found the wood. Look for a circle of light, and switch to Sam to plant a tree. It’ll grow fast! Smash it and pick up the apple, then deposit the fruit onto your brown pan.

Return to the patterned bricks in the background and push the boulder out of the way to reveal a tiny door. Use any of the hobbits to crawl through the tiny door to appear on a much higher spot.

On this high ledge, look left for a Lego plant. Destroy it to find the last bundle of wood! Grab it and deposit the Lego wood in your inventory.

Now, use the handhold to shimmy across the long gap to reach another ledge further in the background. Across, you’ll find a bird’s nest! Smash it to dump the eggs down below.

Hop back down to the fireplace and set the last bit of wood. Pick up the egg and place it on the pan, as well.

Finally, light the fire – but you’ll still need one more food ingredient! Switch to Merry, and find the Lego jetty left of the fire. Interact to begin fishing, and remember to press the buttons in the little circle as they appear!

Don’t forget to grab all the food ingredients with Sam! Pick up the fish that appears once Merry finishes fishing, using Sam, and place it on the pan. With the fish, egg, and fruit all added to the pan, you’ll be ready to cook second breakfast.

Take the meal to the fire and you’ll move to the next section of the level.

Now, your party is Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo. Run left, and smash every Lego brick you can find near the dead drop.

Cross the bridge, then switch to Sam to dig up the glowing circle. Once the plant grows, you’ll find a series of rocks pop out of a cave.

Use these rocks to target and break both sets of Lego plants further left. When the plants are broken, boulders will drop down and cover the infinite drop.

Further left, you’ll find another circle of Lego soil. Use Sam to interact and grow a plant. Hop on the green Lego leaves and press the jump key just as you land to jump even higher.

Pull off a high jump, and you’ll be able to reach the pink flower at the top. Left of the flower is a tiny door, usable by any of the hobbits.

Through the tiny door, you’ll find hopping bricks to construct. Once built, you’ll find Lego kindling. Interact while standing on the brown block to start a fire, clearing away the plants above. Return through the tiny door to rejoin the team.

Run left, then look in the far background for a green Lego plant with two green Lego vines. Run up the steps and jump onto the vine with one character, then switch to another character to jump onto the second vine.

With two characters hanging off both vines, you’ll pull the plants down, revealing new hopping bricks. Put the hopping bricks together to form a narrow walkway leading right and up.

Follow the gold and silver studs further into the background until you run into a dead end with two green Lego plants. Smash the plants, then construct the hopping bricks to form kindling.

Switch to a hobbit that can still start a fire – just switch each hobbit and try starting a fire with each hobbit. Once the fire starts, the plants will burn up to reveal handholds.

The handholds lead up, keep jumping up each handhold until you reach the very top hold. Shimmy right and jump off at the high ledge, then continue right to find another circular Lego soil spot.

Use Sam to plant a tree on the glowing spot. A pink flower will appear, letting you cross over and continue moving right along the mountain face. Keep running right and look in the background for steps leading up.

Run under the arch, and you’ll be at the center of Weathertop.

In this new scenario, you’ll be able to switch between Frodo and Sam. But, they’re both basically in different area – Frodo is invisible, Sam is visible. The two can’t interact with the world in the same way. I know it sounds complicated, but we’ll explain!

Frodo can interact with Wraith Lego bricks. Wraith Lego bricks are ghostly white, with mist raising up from the bricks. As Frodo, look for a pile of Wraith Legos and construct them near the center.

Once the pieces are constructed, switch to Sam and smash the bricks to find more constructable bricks. Build the hopping bricks into another Lego kindling.

As Sam, you’ll need to set five fires. Set this side-fire, then set the fire in the center of the area that’s already set up for Sam.

There’s a third fire right of the center. Each fire you set, you’ll ward off the Wraiths. Now, you only need two more!

In the background, smash the wooden Lego cart until hopping bricks pop out. Construct the parts to create a fourth kindling. Set the fire, and you’ve got one more to go.

Right of the Lego cart is a Lego Statue in the far background, sitting on a patterned Lego surface. Push the statue, from the background into the foreground, to drop the Statue and smash it.

The statue will shatter and leave behind Wraith Lego bricks. Switch to Frodo to construct the bricks! Switch back to Sam, and start the fire. With all five fires set, you’ll move onto the next part.

Aragorn will join the fight! Now you just have to defeat all five Wraiths! To send them reeling, you’ll need to use fire. Aragorn starts with fire, hit a Ring-Wraith to set it on fire, and it’ll run off.

That leaves four more Wraiths to defeat. To get more torches, you’ll first need to start a fire. Construct the kindling just left of center, then switch to Sam to set the fire.

Now, you’ll need wood to create torches! There are rocks and rubble all around the arena. Collect them, then follow the small yellow pointers to bound-up Lego plants. Smash all three with rocks, and don’t forget that Sam has a torch, too!

Light every torch on the fire, then take out the Wraiths one at a time.

Once all five are chased off, you’ll complete the level.

Trollshaws

Sadly, Frodo still gets hurt! Luckily, Arwen is here to take Frodo to safety. You’ll be on horseback, so get riding! Follow the ghostly studs toward the large pointer.

Across the shallow river, Arwen will summon water to chase the Wraiths off; for now. The rest of the journey will be free of those monsters.

Now, follow those ghostly studs once again. Up the narrow path, cross the stone bridge over the water and you’ll arrive at the Elven city of Rivendell.

Back in control of Frodo, you can meet the eponymous Fellowship after weaving your way through the magical city. Follow the ghostly studs to reach the meeting place.

A long cutscene will get you started on your journey proper. The entire fellowship is finally together, and you’re off to throw the ring into Mordor!

Follow the ghostly studs to the river blocking your path. You’ll need to use Legolas, hold down the attack button to shoot at the targets up against the cliff face.

Now, you’re free to push up the ledge, higher and higher until you’re in the snowy mountains.

    Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

    I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

    Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

    Use Gollum to do the fishing!

    In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

    @Nicole,

    If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

    Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

    Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

    Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

    @Kerry,

    Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

    what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On February 19, 2013 at 3:00 am

    @jim,

    There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

    I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

    @Jennifer,

    Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

    I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

    Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
    We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

    I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
