The Fellowship of the Ring

The Two Towers

The Return of the King

Amon Hen

The mission begins right away, with Frodo in the ghostly world while Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn can be selected in the regular world.

As Frodo, look immediately right for a rock. Pick it up, then sneak up the hill path where Boromir is waiting in the brush. Distract him by throwing the rock at the tree over his head.

That’ll send the crazy Boromir away, allowing you as Frodo to continue up the hill. Ahead, Boromir will be waiting at a ruin’s steps. Sneak by him using the tiny door just left of the base of the stairs.

Through the door, you’ll see a Lego column on the platform with you. Push against it to knock it down and send Boromir away.

Build the Wraith-bricks left behind to construct steps on the left side. Use the left path to get around Boromir.

At the top of the left path, you’ll see Boromir waiting to your right. Break the Lego boulder to find a small rock Frodo can pick-up. Grab it, and throw the rock at a target on the stone statue against the far background.

When you throw the rock, more Wraith-bricks will appear. Construct the spectral bricks to form stairs up. Take the stairs, then attack the Lego plants around the statue to create a chain-reaction, scaring off Boromir.

Keep moving right, jump over the log, and you’ll find Boromir at the bend. Smash every Lego rock, plant, and tree in the area to find enough Wraith-bricks to construct a catapult!

Once the catapult appears, attack it to launch a rock, sending Boromir scurrying off once again.

Past the next log ahead, you’ll find another rock. Scoop it up, and once again aim for the plants over Boromir’s head.

Sneak around the bend until you’re stopped by Boromir yet again. This time, break the rock left of Boromir to find a rock, then throw the rock at a Lego nest further to your left, just look up to find it.

Build the Wraith-bricks that fall to the ground to make stairs, then use those stairs to reach a Lego statue. Push the statue right, and continue forward.

Further right is another tiny door. Crawl through with Frodo, then smash all the Lego items to your right to find another rock.

This rock, you’ll want to throw at the Lego item hanging directly over Boromir’s head. It’ll drop down, and knock some sense into him, letting you free!

Now you can exit through the tiny door, and continue forward, following the silver Lego studs to the ruins ahead.

Up the stairs, you’ll come face to face with the Eye of Sauron! Press the button that appear on screen as quickly as you can to remove the ring.

Now, you’ll be in control of the Fellowship – Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. First, you’ll need a torch. Smash the Lego brick items on the beach, between the boats.

With the unlit torch, light it using the blazing fire, then set the fire to clear out the tree trunk just to the right of the campfire.

Swap to Legolas as you run down the path, you’ll see a flowery jump-marker where he can reach the high ledge.

Up the ledge, use the green tightrope to climb to the top of a cut tree. Then look up and left for a target. Blast that target with an arrow!

Hopping bricks will fall down. Construct them to create a bouncing Lego platform, letting the rest of your team climb up.

Ahead is a cracked Lego brick. Use Gimli to smash it, naturally. Ahead, switch to Legolas or Aragorn and pick up Gimli, throwing him at the out-of-reach cracked brick in the ruined grey statue.

Now Legolas can climb the fallen chunks of statue, and reach a far platform once he puts an arrow into the arrow-slot and jumps to it.

On the stone platform, push down the Lego pillar to the push-surface right below. Now, grab Gimli and jump-attack to crush the cracked bricks on the ground at the center of the push-surface.

Construct the bricks that appear to form a smaller pillar. Now, you just need to push the taller pillar to the back left corner first, then push the shorter pillar right next to the taller.

Once both pillars are pushed together, and into the back left corner, you’ll be able to use them as stopped stones. Jump onto each, then back onto the previously-unreachable path.

Follow the path until you reach a Lego tree with a cracked brick. You know what to do, use Gimli to smash it!

Ahead, you’ll need a tall character to throw Gimli at an out-of-reach cracked brick. Once you do, construct the hopping bricks to create an arrow-slot.

Switch to Legolas, and jump onto the fallen tree. Shoot the arrow-slot, and use the arrow to jump across to the ruins further toward the background.

Jump across, then construct the hopping bricks into a short pillar. Push the pillar down, and everyone can move forward.

Switch to Aragorn and get up to the high ledge, above the dark cave. There, you can find a glowing green item. Examine it with Aragorn, and a dark green trail will appear.

Follow it, and you’ll discover Frodo! But, there’s no rest for the Fellowship, a bunch of nasty Uruk-Hai have arrived! Think of these red guys as especially evil Orcs.

You’ll appear in a small arena with Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn while Orcs swarm the area. Switch to Legolas, and fight the Orcs off until only three of them remain – above you, with bows. Shoot these three, and more will break through the trees below to reveal a new path.

Follow the path, defeating Orcs and shooting them with arrows. Another way to knock the Orcs down is by destroying the Lego ruins they’re standing on.

Defeat them all and another barrier will break leading down the hill and right. Keep defeating Orcs as you enter the third arena.

In the third area, Legolas won’t be able to use his bow. Instead, pick up Gimli and throw him at the cracked brick in the background to knock down a ramp.

Use the ramp to defeat the shielded Orcs, then use Legolas’ arrows to shoot the archer-Orcs on the left.

Once they’re defeated, you’ll switch to a new area. Now you’ll have Boromir, Merry, and Pippin to fight with.

The leader of the Uruk-Hai is here, and he really wants the rings.

Switch to Merry or Pippin, after defeating some incoming Orcs, and use the tiny door in the back left corner of the scene. You’ll appear behind the leader, attack him once and he’ll throw the hobbit off.

More Orcs will arrive! Defeat them, then destroy the Lego rocks covering the tiny door. Crawl through, and attack the Uruk-Hai leader again.

Even more Orcs arrive, and they destroy your tiny door! No matter, the means to create a new path appear on the right side of the area. Build the hopping bricks, and use the bounce-pad to reach the leader, giving him a third good hit.

The fight continues after the cutscene. You’ll lose the hobbits, but Aragorn will arrive to help defeat the leader, who now has five hearts.

Wait for the Leader to throw his shield. While he’s struggling to pull it free, attack him!

Defeat the incoming Orcs, and watch out for swords thrown by the leader up on his perch. Dodge enough swords, and then attack once he jumps down to retrieve his shield.

Sometimes, the leader will pick-up a hero. If he does, switch to your other character and attack the leader!

Dish out five hearts worth of damage, and you’ll have the first part of the game finished. Congratulations! Now, it’s time for The Two Towers.

Question: you say above “Now, you begin a new level proper with four Hobbits in your team. You’ll have Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin together.”… but I only have Frodo and Sam. That means when I get to the fishing part, I’m completely stuck – because I don’t have a character who can fish.

I’ve tried restarting, but it only lets me restart back to the Gandalf fight, and when I make it back to the Hobbits… again, only Frodo and Sam are there.

Any suggestions on what I can do? Even if I have to force restart the whole level to try again, fine – but I can’t even get it to do that.

Use Gollum to do the fishing!

In this taming Gollum level, I cannot switch weapons with Frodo’s to choose the light so that I can go in the cave. I’m not really sure what to do next since I can’t access that fish without it. Any suggestions?

If you’re unable to switch weapons/items, try simply walking into the dark cave with Frodo. He’ll automatically take out his light for you, which is really handy.

Let me know if that helps, or if you encounter any other problems.

Regarding the checkered pattern of Lego bricks with the boulder: you have to give the boulder a good push so that it falls, then topples over to create a path for Isildur. If you just nudge it off the pattern, the boulder will stand up in the lava and not topple. If this happens, restart the level and really put your shoulder into it next time, Elrond.

Melissa, regarding using the fishing pole, you can play any combination of the four Hobbits (use Z or C to change characters). You just can’t be the same Hobbit at once.

    On December 30, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Melissa — I had the same issue and finally figured out the answer. You actually can play with all four characters on the Wii version (and most likely all versions of course), even though it only shows two at a time. You start with Frodo and Sam, but if you hold down “C” you can switch characters and pick Merry. This allows you to fish and move throw the river portion of this level. I hope that helps!

Are you fighting the ghost leader at the end of the level? If so, make sure you hit him with Aragorn’s sword during the fight — can you give a little more description? I’ll try to help however I can.

    Thanks for the comment, Kerry!

what is used to break shining objects through out the game

    Kevin Thielenhaus

There are two ways to break shiny objects. You can buy fireworks at the mithril shop, if you can unlock it — or you can buy the Berserker character after finishing Helm’s Deep during the campaign. Either of those explosive choices should allow you to destroy shiny bricks.

I am on the level and I accidently played as Frodo the whole time and now Sam can’t wear any armor. What can I do? Frodo has both helmets and breast pieces and we aren’t disguised.

Sadly, you might need to restart from the beginning. I had to do the same thing while playing, make sure you collect the armor in order. I collected the armor out of order my first time, and some weird bugs show up that’ll stop your progress dead.

I’m stuck at the end of level three….the pass of caradhras….have put the pieces in the door, built the fire pit and collected two of the fire pieces. But the one behind the “wood wall” I can not get to. Walkthrough says to just smash it….have tried every character available to me and no one breaks it….really getting frustrated….any suggestions. Have restarted level already.

Stuck in the Mines of Moria:
We are stuck in the Mines of Moria. We have smashed the two chests and finished the well. We have unlocked the chest with the key and found the gear. We have smashed the wall and found the crank. We have installed the gear and the crank (in that order). Once the crank is in place, we get the sign to turn it and can see the little meter, but the crank will not turn. ALl the characters go to the crank and put their hands on it, but it does not turn. We have tried all available characters. We have gone back several times and tried completing the various sections in a different order, but nothing seems to work. The game was purchased from a chain store. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Weird. We’re having the same problem as Kerry a year ago. At the end of Paths of the Dead, we kill the King of the Dead on the first platform, then on the second. Then we build the four columns for the third stage. We fight him atop each platform, then he destroys it and keeps flying from platform location to platform location, including the platforms that have already been destroyed. After fighting him on the fourth platform, he destroys that one too, but keeps flying around.

I just watched a video walkthrough, and there, as soon as the King was defeated on hte fourth platform, it went to a cutscene without showing him destroying that platform. So I think we must have a buggy version of the game. Is that possible?
