LEGO To Make Minecraft Block Sets

It’s official: LEGO will be building a set of its construction blocks themed on the LEGO-like indie title, Minecraft.

A while back, we heard that developer Mojang had used LEGO’s CUUSOO site, where users can suggest LEGO sets and other users can vote on the ones they like. For a set to be considered by LEGO to be created and sold, it has to receive at least 10,000 votes; after that, the company reviews the set and decides whether it can and wants to take it on.

In the case of the Minecraft set, the CUUSOO site hit the requisite 10,000 votes and LEGO decided there was some merit in the set. There’s not a lot of other information in terms of what it’ll be like or when it’ll be available, but the image above shows a mock-up Mojang used to show off the concept online.
