Level-5 Won’t Have Much of a Presence At Tokyo Game Show This Year

Level-5, that company who churns out all those JRPGs and Professor Layton games we love, among other things, will be at Tokyo Game Show in September, but only barely; they won’t have the giant-ass booth we’ve come to expect from them. Instead, they’ll be hosting their own big event, Level-5 World, in October.

“I think the game industry is in transition right now, from new platforms to change in user tastes to the effects of the [March] earthquake,” Level-5 boss Akahiro Hino told Famitsu. “I think we’ve been somewhat slow to respond to this. We’ve been working on a number of projects in parallel, and earlier this year we realized we’d be too late on much of it for the Tokyo Game Show. That’s why we thought it best to hold our own event a month later to better appeal to gamers.”

Level-5 world will be open to the public, of course, and Hino says they’ll have upwards of ten games to show off there, with some of those titles being announced at the expo. So this will not be some small, nothing event.
