Lionsgate Picks up Dead Island Movie Rights

Well, those of us who wished the potential of that totally emo Dead Island trailer could be realized in some form may just have our dreams come true, because Lionsgate has purchased the movie rights for the game, and I’m assuming they’re going to be adapting that trailer instead of the totally boring and stupid game. Here’s a guy from Lionsgate talking about the trailer and clearly not the game:

Like the hundreds of journalists and millions of fans who were so passionate and vocal about the Dead Island trailer, we too were awestruck. This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate: it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love. It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.

Yeah, guy clearly hasn’t played the game.

Man, I bet the folks who made that trailer aren’t going to see any money from this deal. That’s gotta suck horribly.

The game is far from being a “totally boring and stupid game.” I really enjoy playing Dead Island, especially when im playing coop with my friends. The game obviously has alot of problems, especially technical issues. Its still worth playing though and doesn’t deserve so much hate.

Dead Island very fun, I haven’t tried the online play yet personally but DI is best enjoyed in short sessions. I found myself wandering around alot but its almost like wow with zombies.

As far as lionsgate making a movie.. House of the Dead, need I say more?

Wow, “totally boring and stupid”? Do they pay you to write or do you sit around and write rubbish for free? That “statement of opinion” is far from the truth! The game is a blast! And it has a legitimate story line!
