Lode Runner Slated for XBLA in Stunning 3D

Out of CES comes a more minor bit of news, but it’s still noteworthy nonetheless. The classic platforming puzzler, Lode Runner, is apparently getting a full 3D update for an Xbox Live Arcade release. The game will still play the same as past games, though developer Tozai has added a couple of multiplayer modes. There’s no word on a price yet, but I’d guess 800 MS points would be about right. Tozai did mention however that the game should see release sometime this year. It’ll be nice to have something on XBLA other than a bunch of side-scrolling shooter (as much as I am enjoying Omega Five these days).

Sweet! Lode Runner and Rescue Raiders were my 2 favorite pc games when I was growing up. I actually wouldn’t have minded if they kept the original “matchstick men” look but I guess 3D will be nice. As long as they don’t change the gameplay too much.

Any word on how many levels there will be?
