Lord of the Rings Online: Garth Agarwen

There is a new spotlight on Middle-earth up at the official Lord of the Rings website today. This time out we get info on the background surrounding the ruins of an ancient fortress called Garth Agarwen.

“Deep in the Lone-lands, a vast marshland stretches across the land, red as the blood that was spilled into its waters during the wars between Arthedain and Rhudaur. The Eglain of Ost Guruth call it the Red Swamp. In the northern reaches of the bog called Agamaur, lie the ruins of an ancient Rhudaurian fortress, now known as Garth Agarwen. Garth Agarwen was one of the chief bastions of the Hill-men of Rhudaur before it fell into decay.”

The site has a little more detail on how the location came to become a site of dour tidings and how it plays into the story and history that supports the game.

Apologies for the dead link. It appears that since this article was posted in 2007, Turbine changed their site and broke the link.
