Lords of the Fallen is a German Dark Souls

There’s a little known game by the name of Lords of the Fallen, which is being touted as a European, or at least German, Dark Souls. Currently in development at City Interactive and Deck 13, the game is being headlined by The Witcher and The Witcher 2 producer Tomasz Gop. Once known as Project RPG, the game has been in the works for over two years.

Attendees at E3 had the privy of seeing a small portion of the game, in which the game’s main character, Harkyn, made his first appearance.

“Harkyn is not your ordinary hero. Our team is committed to creating a distinct character and a gameplay experience unique to every player, as well as a deep, secretive history that players will be rewarded for upon discovering.” said Gop.

Players will be able to alternate between the role of warrior, rogue, and cleric. Choosing one at the start, and switching to any of the others later on after wearing class-specific armor. Each class has access to special moves and abilities.

Like Dark Souls, players are not penalized for dying, and are instead expected to learn from their mistakes. ”Death is how you learn in the game, you are not punished for it,” said Gop.

Lords of the Fallen is slated for a 2014 release on the Windows PC and next-gen platforms.

it seems to me like theyre simply riding the coat tails of the Dark souls franchise. until i see gameplay i’ll remain skeptical of this series that tries to distinguish itself as a “german Dark souls” rather than as its one hardcore action rpg

Is this the game that was supposed to be a mash up of Dark Souls difficulty and Kingdoms of Amalur action that you guys reported all those months ago? If so, I have high hopes for this game since its being made by the Germans; those folks know quality.

@Mike: I should stop watching German B-movies then, because they’re all terrible.

Well I was talking about their engineering, scientific, and technological skills, but those movies are supposed to be terrible…they’re B-movies after all, that’s part of the fun.

When I read the comments about this game, I think that most people compare this two games…but I agree with you this will be Hit 2014!

People compare this two games because CI developers drew their inspiration form Dark Souls. But I believe Lords of the Fallen will be another game. Who knows? Maybe you have right and that will be hit in this year. We will see in time.

I think the title itself attracted to the game. When i see gameplay I don’t believe that is pre-alpha. For me combat style is great and I want to see magic in action:) What do you thing about gameplay?

I believe that the CI showed what they can do :D Harkyn in the game looks amazing, shame they did not show the other classes. I’m very curious how the assassin:D

I’m interested in how it looks fight in conjunction with magic, maybe before the release something else will show.

I also have this hope, I would like to see something else. feel unsatisfied ;)

@Kika: You feel unsatified because don’t see all class in action on first gameplay. But look at this on the other side. We don’t know everythink abot this game and developers can improve it. Then when Lords of the Fallen comeout we will have surprise:) It’s my opinion about this:D

After some time, also the thought that maybe I’d rather just such a surprise than to know everything right away. I agree :D Let me surprise :D
