Lost Planet 2 Leads Capcom in Losses

Capcom’s income is down 90 percent in the first quarter of 2010, compared to the same time last year.

Why’s that? Dismal sales for Lost Planet 2, the company says. Oh, and The Economy.

Lost Planet 2, which came out in May, has moved 1.5 million copies for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 so far  in 2010. Compare that with Super Street Fighter IV, which dropped at the very end of April and sold 1.3 million copies.

Other games underperforming for Capcom include Monster Hunter Tri on the Nintendo Wii and Ghost Trick for the Nintendo DS.

As for Street Fighter IV, things must be going well with the franchise, since Capcom just announced an alliance with fighting-game rival Namco to create two crossover games, Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter.
