Lost Planet 3 Prod: Focus Is On Narrative Elements
I didn’t hate the Lost Planet 3 demo, though I did come away with some reservations. A lot of what sucked about Lost Planet 2 has been ditched, but the game is a prequel, and I think we can all agree that prequels are a serious sign that a franchise has run out of creative steam. Still, I would like to see something cool done with the Lost Planet setting and if comments by the game’s Producer are any indication, I just might. Maybe.
Speaking to Capcom Unity, Andrew Szymanski said that LP3 will focus ‘heavily’ on narrative elements, and elements like changing weather. “In the case of Lost Planet,” he said, “the creative director [Kenji Oguro] came to me, and he knew that we wanted to go for a more narrative direction, a more cinematic direction with a strong protagonist, and that we wanted to kind of bump up the ante, if you will, on the shooter mechanics of the game.”
He also talked about how changing weather will alter parts of the game between sections, so you’ll be able to experience regions you’ve already visited in new ways (kind of like old timey Zelda, if you think about it.) So what do you think? Are you done with the series or looking forward to playing? Let us know in comments.
