LOTRO Announces New Class In Next Update

Arriving in a future update, LOTRO will introduce a new class called the Beorning.

Aaron Campbell, executive producer of Lord of the Rings Online posted on their official forum detailing the plans for the future of LOTRO in the coming months. In his post he revealed the update and content release schedule which includes a new shape-shifting class called the Beorning.

“Beornings are noted in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as a race of Man, with close origins to the Rohirrim and the Men of Dale. Most Men are not shape-changers, so we envision the Beorning as a light armor casting class with a focus on control of the battlefield. When a Beorning gathers sufficient rage, they may transform into a mighty bear,” Campbell stated in the 2014 section of his post.

While the more specific details regarding this new class are not yet realized, the newly formed “Players Council“, a group of dedicated LOTRO players who assist the developers by providing feedback and making any educated suggestions about the direction LOTRO should take.

A specific release date has not been mentioned, but it most likely won’t happen until the holiday season. This gives plenty of time to sort out any bugs and balance issues with the class before it goes live.

The title of this article is misleading. It should say LOTRO Announces New Class In “Future” Update. I don’t think LOTRO has actually stated it will be in the next update.
