LotRO Twitter Dev Chat Reveals Update 11 & Expansion Details
The Lord of the Rings Online devs took to Twitter today to answer moderated questions from players. Inquiries ranged from revamping old zones to the new healer Rohan rings that proc on healing. But the good stuff was about what’s coming up next.
While Update 10 was focused on the Hobbit-themed new instances (one of which has since been disabled due to performance issues), Update 11 will focus on new endgame solo content in the form of a new region, Wildermore, and a new part of the epic story line. New mounted traits and skills will also arrive with the update.
The class revamp announced in January was addressed a bit. When asked about the new skill trees Matt “Hoarsedev” Zimmitti’s response was:
“Three trees per class. Some degree of blending at a higher cost than sticking with a pure build. Bonuses granted based on an early-level specialization choice that grows as points are spent. You can have multiple specs. You can respec.”
There was a concern among the player base that characters will become less rounded and thus more group dependent.
Helm’s Deep is mentioned again as the focus of the next expansion and we can expect an official announcement on LotRO’s upcoming 6th anniversary on April 24th.
What are you looking forward to in LotRO this year?
