LucasArts Teams with Microsoft on Kinect Star Wars Game

When the Nintendo Wii was released, there was a lot of talk about how its revolutionary motion controls would deliver that El Dorado of gaming experiences: convincing, high-fidelity lightsaber combat.

Whether or not the Wii delivered is a matter of debate, but Microsoft has upped the ante on motion controls generally with their forthcoming Kinect system. At their E3 presser, they unveiled footage of an upcoming (and as-yet-untitled) collaboration with LucasArts, which harnesses the power of Kinect to deliver motion-controlled lightsaber combat, blaster-bolt deflection, and bitchin’ force powers.

Early reports suggest a 2011 release date.
