Mafia 2 Getting PhysX and 3D Vision

2K Games and NVIDIA are ganging up to give gamers Mafia II full stereoscopic 3D and real world physics. The upcoming open world crime shooter gets a kick from NVIDIA’s PhysX and APEX technologies. This is the same potent combination that wowed lucky 3D gamers in titles like Batman: Arkham Asylum, BattleField: Bad Company 2, Metro 2033 The Last Refuge, and Resident Evil 5. Most of us will only get to enjoy the upgraded physics enhancements like unique shotgun impacts and realistic weather effects but that’s cool enough.

“We are extremely excited about the upcoming launch of Mafia II for Windows PC,” announced Drew Henry, general manager of GeForce business at NVIDIA. “With support for GPU-accelerated PhysX and 3D Vision, gamers will be able to experience the mob world in a whole other dimension. Gamers are in for a real treat.”

Those gamers with compatible NVIDIA cards and monitors for their systems can enjoy the full cloth tearing, glass shattering experience in 3D with the NVIDIA 3D Vision wireless glasses once Mafia II releases later this year. Maybe there’s even enough time to save up for the $600 3D Vision upgrade kit.
