Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers Coming to Steam

Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers

A couple of weeks ago, I told you about the first XBox Live Arcade expansion for Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers. Now, Wizards of the Coast is bringing the Collectible Card Game to PC’s everywhere by releasing the title on Steam.

Wizard’s digital card game will also include a ton of Steamworks features, including auto-updating, Steam Achievements, Leaderboards, downloadable content, ability to access from any computer, multiplayer matchmaking and more.

The pre-sale for Duels of the Planeswalkers will start June 1, 2010, and will offer the core game and the first expansion together for $9.99.

I’m glad to see this one landing on Steam, even if it does mean that Shawn has another platform to stomp me in Magic on.

Finally, I’ve been waiting for a date. I was hoping it’d be on Steam too, makes everything so much easier. The tutorial for Magic on http://www.wizards.com that uses the same engine they are using for this release was awesome. It’s basically a demo for the game, if you will, albeit in a small tutorial box with very limited features.

I’m mad ready for this. I’ll be pre-ordering this at 12:01AM.
