Mammoth Lord of the Rings Lego Tower Includes 50,000+ Pieces
If I ever again hear someone claim that Lego is for children, I’ll refer them to this. I’d like to see a child construct such a masterpiece.
In an interview with Ars Technica, Kevin Walter details the creation process behind this behemoth Lego build that required over 50,000 pieces and two and a half months of work.
Tolkien fans will recognize it as Barad-dûr, Sauron’s fortress in the heart of Mordor. Everyone else will recognize it as “that tower from the Lord of the Rings.” The Lego version stands 175 cm (5’9″) tall, a mere 10 cm (4″) shorter than its creator.
