Man Breaks PS4, Screams Outside Best Buy

Last night Phil Hornshaw and I went to the Gamestop on Sunset Boulevard in east Hollywoos for the PS4 launch, and it was rather uneventful, aside from the white dude in a pickup truck screaming “XBOX ONE, BITCHES” as he rolled by. The midnight event at a Best Buy in Montreal seems to have been a bit more interesting, as this video shows a man walking out of the store with his new console, tearing open the box and smashing it on the ground.

That’s some sort of statement, I suppose.

I believe the statement he was making is “I have far to much disposable income!!”

I’ve never understood the idiocy of someone smashing something they just purchased as some sort of “statement”.
The company doesn’t care they already got their money. Most people don’t care because the one you smashed wasn’t there own.

This sort of shock statement/trolling just makes the troller look like complete fool.

@Dach

Actually Sony loses money on each sale, so really he just cost them.

Nice one. surprised he wasn’t restrained. but he let it all out. The scrounger was sly and smart picking up that part.

I am a PC player and have no interest in consoles. That said even I can see the Playstation Four is far superior to the X-Box One.

I agree with Dach, the people in the que are Playstation fans and a lunatic smashing a new console is not going to affect them in the slightest. He essentially game money to Sony, a company he obviously dislikes for no real good reason and the only statement gleaned is that this man has far too much disposable income.

If anything this stunt portrays X-Box users in a bad light, it shows the console attracts quite deranged fans.

On a similar note, anyone watch South Park this week? It looks like being a multi-parter parodying both Game of Thrones and the Xbox One/PS4 divide. It was pretty funny, though not quite hitting the mark as much as the South Park LOTR or WOW parodies.

I miss the good old days where fans didn’t care about the game consoles rivalry, They just wanted to play.

@Dusk – you must be quite old because the console wars aren’t even at their peak right now, that would have been in the mid-90′s at the birth of the bit wars. However, it at least made some sense back then because each console truly did provide something different from the competition. Xbox One and PS4 are too similar to be making such a big deal out of this, although for what it’s worth I’d always choose PS4 based purely on Sony’s slightly less evil business practices. The true war seems to be PS4 AND Xbox One vs Wii U.

I agree with Dach. All I can see in that video is that this man just wasted $400. I don’t want an Xbox One, so I’ll just not buy one, like a sane person. I have much better uses for several hundred dollars besides literally throwing it away.

I take 3 things from this video;

1: Dude is an idiot
2: Dude has more money than sense
3: Dude needs some serious anger management therapy

Talk about wasting money, natural resources, and time of others with this.

I like the guy who took the graphics card while it was being smashed.
